Built Differently. For You.
Virginia criminal and traffic defense, with the focus your case deserves.
We only handle criminal and traffic defense cases
No personal injury docket. No family law clients. No estate planning practice. We’d rather be great at one thing: defending you in a Virginia criminal or serious traffic case.
Criminal Offenses
We handle the full range of Virginia criminal cases — from misdemeanors like petit larceny, drug possession, and assault and battery to serious felonies including aggravated assault, drug distribution, and embezzlement. Whether your case is in General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, or Circuit Court, we know how the local prosecutors and judges approach these cases and how to position yours for the best possible outcome.
DWI and DUI Cases
A first-offense DUI in Virginia is a Class 1 Misdemeanor — up to 12 months in jail, a one-year license suspension, mandatory ignition interlock, and ASAP enrollment. With a BAC of 0.15% or higher, mandatory minimum jail time kicks in. We dig into every part of your case: the stop, the field sobriety tests, the breath or blood test, and how the evidence was handled. Constitutional, procedural, and medical issues all matter, and we know where to look.
Reckless Driving
There are over 20 code sections in Virginia defining what can be considered driving recklessly. Driving 20+ mph over the posted limit or anything above 85 mph, even if the speed limit is 65 or 70 mph can result in a Class 1 Misdemeanor for Reckless Driving. We’re here to help whether you’re a resident of Virginia driving to work, or an out-of-state driver just passing through.
Speeding and Traffic Violations
A speeding ticket isn’t just a fine — it’s demerit points on your record, higher insurance for years, and possible license suspension if points stack up. Most of our traffic cases end in a reduction or dismissal, and in most cases you don’t even need to come to court. We appear on your behalf, resolve your case, and report back. You stay home; we handle it.
Every attorney. Every case.
An intake process built so every attorney at Joyner Law knows every case. From a speeding ticket to a murder trial, your defense is the work of the whole firm, not one lawyer working in isolation. When you hire Joyner Law, you hire Joyner Law — every attorney here is part of your defense.
Coverage Across Virginia
The whole firm. The whole state
Every Virginia court runs differently. The same charge in one jurisdiction isn’t treated the same way in another — different judges, different prosecutors, different standard practices. We’ve spent years building that knowledge across Virginia. Whether your case is in central Virginia or on its southwestern edge, that experience goes to work for you, with the team you actually hired.

How We Work
Joyner Law started with one belief: lawyers are expensive, but they don’t need to be. Criminal and traffic defense should be accessible to the people who need it. We’ve built our practice around that idea.
Flat rates, written up front
One fee, decided before you hire us, covering your case from start to finish. No hourly billing. No retainer drawdowns. No supplemental invoices. You’ll know what you’re paying for, in writing, before you hire us.
A lawyer answers the phone
When you call us, you talk to an attorney — not a paralegal taking messages, not an intake screener qualifying you for a callback. Every call, every email, every consultation. Ask a legal question, get a legal answer, from someone qualified to give one.
The whole firm prepares your defense
Before and after your hearing, every attorney at Joyner Law reviews your case. Our intake process makes it impossible for any of us not to know your file. The strategy that defends you isn’t one person’s idea — it’s the work of every attorney here.
The lawyer you hire is the lawyer who shows up
When you hire Joyner Law, one of our attorneys will represent you. Always. We don’t outsource cases or fax your file to strangers the afternoon before court. The person preparing your defense is the person walking into your hearing.
Recognized across Virginia for the work we do
We don’t chase awards, but the work has been recognized consistently over the years. What matters more is what the recognition reflects — a firm where every attorney is genuinely good at what they do, and clients notice.
Let’s see if we’re the right fit.
The consultation is free, and the point of it isn’t to sell you on hiring us. It’s to talk through what you’re facing, give you an honest read on the case, and figure out — both of us — whether we’re the right firm for it. Either way, you’ll walk away knowing more about what you’re up against than when you called.
